Our Classic Mill was developed at the request of professional chefs who wanted a reliable & efficient workhorse for the commercial kitchen. It offers the same hard wearing mechanism as our other mills but in a more traditional form. We know of several of these mills that are still being used on a daily basis after 20 years in a professional kitchen and they are still going strong. It is a good choice if you just want a good hard working mill for everyday use.
All of our mills are hand made and finished to an extremely high standard in our workshops in Gloucestershire where we use the best quality kiln dried beech wood in their construction. The pepper mechanism is made from a hardened tool steel and all other component parts are made from stainless steel, ensuring excellent build integrity and longevity in the drive train. The Pepper mechanism is machine cut, fully adjustable and has a life expectancy in excess of 25 years. The Salt mechanism is made from stainless steel and will last a similar time. We also carry a full range of spare parts for our mills in the unlikely event that something does goes wrong or you happen to lose a bit.

superb mill with smooth grinding action. wood feels very tactile.I have just compared this mill to the more famous “British ” brand mill it is replacing, no plastic parts here ! the Millstone mill is just beechwood and metal and should last a life time . It is also good to support quality British manufacturing rather than foreign owned “British” brand names that manufacture in the far east

Our \’Classic\’ Pepper Mill arrived by post this morning. What an amazingly high quality product. It is absolutely fantastic and surprisingly sturdy – it feels very good in the hand and would also make a darned good cosh for seeing off burglars! Seriously, it makes a wonderful addition to our kitchen. We expect to receive some Tellicherry peppercorns ordered from Italy this afternoon and are eagerly anticipating our first test run.
