Description
This desirable Millstone Chess Piece makes an aesthetically pleasing alternative to a more standard shaped salt or pepper mill whilst also benefiting from a superior quality grinding mechanism and a beautiful hand crafted form.
All of our mills are hand made and finished to an extremely high standard in our workshops in Gloucestershire where we use the best quality kiln dried beech wood in their construction. The pepper mechanism is made from a hardened tool steel and all other component parts are made from stainless steel, ensuring excellent build integrity and longevity in the drive train. The Pepper mechanism is machine cut, fully adjustable and has a life expectancy in excess of 25 years. The Salt mechanism is made from stainless steel and will last a similar time. We also carry a full range of spare parts for our mills in the unlikely event that something does goes wrong or you happen to lose a bit.
Made in England. Â Made to Last.

Steve Bennett –
I bought a small King and Queen pepper and salt mill for Christmas.
These pieces are so exquisite I thought I must drop you a line of thanks.
They are absolutely beautiful and I will enjoy using them every single day of the week.
Many thanks,
Steven Bennett

Monica Rumsby –
These products are of exceptional quality and the customer service is fantastic. I bought a small king and queen set at the Good Food Show over 12 years ago and they have worked brilliantly. The salt grinding mechanism on the queen started to wear and it was replaced free of charge by the company. MillStone replied promptly to my request about replacement parts and I cannot fault either their products or service. I would unquestionably recommend them.
Midge Miller –
I first bought my husband a set of chess piece grinders 25 years ago. The mechanism in the salt has been replaced free of charge. We use them every day and they remain in good condition, testament to the workmanship. The larger set will, I’m sure, bring as much pleasure, thank you.
Caro Henley –
I saw your stall at the Chelsea Physic Garden fair and just to say that I bought my mills at least 20 years ago and they are still going strong and used daily. A delight to have on the table. Needless to say they have also been given as presents to many and are much admired – thank you!
