Description
This desirable Millstone Chess Piece makes an aesthetically pleasing alternative to a more standard shaped salt or pepper mill whilst also benefiting from a superior quality grinding mechanism and a beautiful hand crafted form.
All of our mills are hand made and finished to an extremely high standard in our workshops in Gloucestershire where we use the best quality kiln dried beech wood in their construction. The pepper mechanism is made from a hardened tool steel and all other component parts are made from stainless steel, ensuring excellent build integrity and longevity in the drive train. The Pepper mechanism is machine cut, fully adjustable and has a life expectancy in excess of 25 years. The Salt mechanism is made from stainless steel and will last a similar time. We also carry a full range of spare parts for our mills in the unlikely event that something does goes wrong or you happen to lose a bit.
Made in England. Â Made to Last.

First came across Millstone in Winchester 2024 at Xmas market, and researched and saw how people loved them so finally purchased a Small Queen (salt) and Small King Pepper as my Xmas 2025 treat for the family gathering on the 25th.
They feel really solid, with lovely fine adjustment to get different size grains and they feel to lovely to hold and use. The engineers around the table appreciated the quality and so looking forward to a couple of decade of use (if not more)
Also nice to discover the company is not too far north of where I live, so nice to support a local company
